Occidental
Occidental (pop. 1,115) packs a lot into its two-block long main street, home to galleries, gift shops, renowned dining establishments, and other local businesses. Founded in 1876, Occidental was a stop on the North Pacific Coast Railroad connecting Cazadero to the Sausalito ferry. In return for donating right-of-way to the railroad, a local landowner named "Dutch Bill" Howards received a lifetime railway pass, and the station was named after him.[3]
Enjoy the Pacific Coastline views, open pastures, and forests of Sonoma County, California. Ride south on Hwy 1 from near Goat Rock State Beach along the cliffside and beaches toward Bodega Bay. Turn off up the "wall" on Coleman Valley Rd, then across the ridges and valleys through the pastures and forest to Occidental.

    I really wish I could make more like this, but now Rouvy is not interested in users creating rides. So I guess this is the end for my project of virtual classic North Bay rides. Perhaps I will continue the project on Kinomap.

    I REALLY enjoyed this one......having done it several times on a real bike, doing it virtually while I'm in Covid lockdown is really fantastic. Brings back great memories.
    My only suggestion is that there are some pull outs going up the hill, so it would cool just to briefly pull out so you could get some ocean views, then flip a U back on the course. But it was a beautiful day, considering that on many days, there is fog.
